-BKS Iyengar

“The success of yoga does not lie
in the ability to perform asana’s,
but in how it positively changes
the way we live our lives…”

That shadow of a shadow of your love,
that somehow contains the entire universe"

Gayatri Mantra

A mantra from the Rig Vedas.
It is considered one of the most ancient and sacred chants.

Om bhur bhuvah svah
tat savitur varenyam
bhargo devasya dhimahi

Through the coming, going and the balance of life

There is a community of the spirit.
Join it, and feel the delight
of walking in the noisy street,
and being the noise.

Drink all your passion,
and be a disgrace.

Close both eyes
to see with the other eye.

Open your hands,
if you want to be held.

Sit down in this circle.

Quit acting like a wolf, and feel
the shepherd's love filling you.

At night, your beloved wanders.
Don't accept consolations.

Close your mouth against food.
Taste the lover's mouth in yours.

You moan, "She left me." "He left me."
Twenty more will come.

Be empty of worrying.
Think of who created thought!

Why do you stay in prison
when the door is so wide open?

Move outside the tangle of fear-thinking.
Live in silence.

Flow down and down in always
widening rings of being.

Aligning with The Light Body

~* The Star Tetrahedron *~

This is the shape that "energetic inter-dimensional vehicles" manifest as. It is called the “merkaba” or “light-body.” Egyptian mysticism defines each syllable of Merkaba: “mer” as light, “ka” as spirit, “ba” as body. Merkavah is translated to mean chariot in Hebrew.  We are counter-rotating fields of Light energy. The Merkaba is the "chariot" that transports the spirit. Through this manifestation of spiraling energy, it is said that ascended masters would transcend to higher realms.
A technique to further mystical exlporations is to meditate on the Star Tetrahedron spiraling around you, focusing on devotion and unconditional love.

The true nature of the human Soul is to align with the Cosmos, becoming one with the Supreme Spirit that connects all aspects of the Universe. This is supreme inner-peace. To reach this goal, one must find co-ordination of their body, mind, senses, reason, and Self.

"Know the Atman (Self) as the Lord in a chariot, reason as the charioteer and mind as the reins.... The self, when united with the senses and the mind, the wise call the Enjoyer (Bhoktr). The undiscriminating can never reign in his mind; his senses are the like the vicious horses of a charioteer. The discriminating ever controls his mind; his senses are like disciplined horses...The man who has a discriminating charioteer to rain in his mind reaches the end of the journey- the Supreme Abode of the ever lasting Spirit."  -Kathopanisad (third chapter, first section)

Recognizing and surrendering to
*The Spirit in all*
is our most powerful tool.
To get there we must overcome
*Desire*
and train our
*Senses* and *Reason*
to not control the mind.

"Discipline yourself and destroy your deceptive enemy in the shape of desire"
- Bhagavad Gita 3.42-43

Patanjali outlines 9 Obstacles and Distractions (Chitta Viksepa) to the control of the mind (Chitta Vritti):
1) Vyadhi: sickness which disturbs the physical equilibrium
2) Styana: lack of mental disposition for work
3) Samsaya: doubt or indecision
4) Pramada: indifference or insensibility
5) Alasya: laziness
6) Avirati: the rousing of desire when sensory objects possess the mind
7) Bhranti Darsana: false or invalid knowledge
8) Aladbha Bhumikatva: failure to attain continuity of throught or concentration so that reality cannot be seen
9) Anavasthitattva: instability in keeping concentration

In order to do avoid distractions and gain control over the mind, BKS Iyengar instructs: constant practice and renunciation. As Yogis, we do not renounce the entire world and all action because e are given this body in the life to preform rightful action. What we do renounce is what takes us away from our path of rightful action: desires, bad influences, and the severe all the ties that bind you (release your fears!).

"in the night of all beings the disciplined and tranquil man wakes to the light"
