Cause and Effect

What is more powerful than your actions? Every moment we make a decision and follow through with it. Even if we choose to do nothing, that is still an action. Actions are what create the world we live in. It's up to you to choose the quality of your actions.

Think about your day, how many times are you faced with simple choices: Sleep in or get up early? Get all my work done today or let go of responsibility? Give in to cravings, eat that cookie? Take some extra time to prepare a healthy snack? Listen to my head? Listen to my heart? Help a friend a need or use the time for myself? Be active or watch TV? Wear the red shirt or the black shirt?

Sometimes we don't even think twice about simple choices and other times we contemplate the right decision...of course some choices are harder than others. But it's important to remember that even minor decisions make a difference in our world. The quality of your actions say a lot about the person you are and more importantly send a message to the universe about what it is you really want.

Try to notice the actions you take throughout your day- are the nourishing you holding or you back? How are your actions effecting the people around you? Choosing actions that nourish you and the people around you will bring you closer and closer to living the life you want.

"Life can be defined as the gradual transformation of energy into matter, just as death can be defined as the transformation of matter into energy. These transformations have a beginning, middle, and end. At the end of each transformation, a new cycle begins. Each nuance of action can have infinite effects. The entire cosmos reverberates with the accumulated action of all its inhabitants- from outer space to inner space.

What matters in your life is the QUALITY OF YOUR ACTIONS and their resulting effects. These accumulated actions (karmas) and their infinite repercussions are what propels us into the next life..."
-Sharon Gannon & David Life

"Preform necessary action;
it is more powerful than inaction;
without action you even fail to sustain your own body.
Action imprisons the world
unless it is done as sacrifice!" -Bhagavad Gita 3.8-9

A big part of the Yogic journey is detaching from your actions as well as the fruits of your actions. The fruits of your actions are what you will gain from what you are doing. An action becomes a sacrifice and   when you are doing it for the sake of doing it-and for no other reason. Eating a vegetarian diet because it is good for the planet not for diet reasons, helping others for their sake, not for the recognition you receive for doing it, practicing yoga not just for the physical benefits, studying and doing your work to help make this world a better place not to make profit... those are just a few basic examples. Can you not only choose right actions but detach from the outcome of them? This practice will bring more joy to your  everyday tasks and allow you to be more present with what you are doing.
